Up for bids is this HUGE Antique Late 19thC Meizan Hododa Guan Yin & Deities Satsuma Porcelain Vase. This impressive Satsuma vase was made during the late 19thC. There is a seal mark on the bottom and I am pretty sure that it is the mark of Meizan Hododa. The first side of the vase is decorated with Guan Yin surrounded by deities with waves crashing below them. The next side is decorated with 2 dieties in long robes with other deities surrounding them. The two other sides depict a warrior in a long robe , one is hovering over a large phoenix bird and the other looks to be riding a dragon. The vase is finely painted and is heavily enameled. Most of the robes, the dragon, and the phoenix are not even painted and are just enameled very well. My favorite part of this piece is the quality used in enameling the wave beneath Guan Yin. The wave is painted and then the tops are enameled and the end result was appearing very similar to a woodblock print. This vase is much larger than you usually see on a Satsuma vase, standing 15 1/2" in height and 8" in width. The vase weighs over 18 pounds! The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs and just has some very minor wear to the gilding and a light crazing through out. I guarantee that the buyer will be 100% satisfied with this excellent quality HUGE Antique Late read more
