This is a US Mint Presidential medal of Harry S. Truman. It is a huge 3 in (76mm) in diameter and weighs 224 grams (7.9 oz). The obverse was designed by John R. Sinnock (one of his last works) and the reverse, featuring the White House, was designed by Gilroy Roberts (one of his first great medallic works. It is in MINT CONDITION in a blue Treasury box, with the baggy. The baggy was opened just to take the photos. Judging from the early type of blue box this is likely an early 1970’s strike and it has the matte finish typical of post-WWII US Mint medals. This medal had been in continuous production since the late 1940’s and was available until 2008 for $38.00 but a recent visits to USMINT.gov website shows that all presidential medals prior to Clinton (with the exception of Washington and Lincoln) are NO longer available.
