This is a HUGE 76 mm(3 inch) in diameter, 220-gram (7.7 ounce) High Relief US MintPresidential/Indian Peace medal of Martin Van Buren. The obverse was designed by Morris Furst and the reverse was designed by John Reich. It is in MINT CONDITION. This is likely a 1960’s-1970’s strike and it has the matte finish typical of post WWII mint medals. This medal had been in continuous production since the 1860’s. It was available until 2008 for $38.00 but recent visits to USMINT.gov website show that recent visits to USMINT.gov website shows that all presidential medals prior to Clinton (with the exceptions of Washington and Lincoln) are NO longer available.
