Juan Quezada is the originator of this artistic movement called New Casas Grandes or Mata Ortiz's Pottery. All started when Juan found small pottery pieces of the almost unknown Paquime or Casas Grandes Culture. About 15 miles from Mata Ortiz, the ruins of the great Paquime city are found.
