This is a nice RARE relic from battle of Britain raf spitfire.This is the remains of a inner wheel from one of the main under carrage tyres it still has some rubber attached and has bolt as well also has numbered markings around the edge the size of the wheel is just over 8 inches wide it has been well cleaned up and is in nice solid condition.The part was recovered from the crash site of raf spitfire work number P9364 flown by Sargent scott which was shot down on the 27/9/1940 and crashed at Hollingbourne in Kent also with this item comes a 5x7 laminated information sheet with plane and crash details.This section came from a private collection in London.If you have any questions please ask a cracking bit of battle of Britain history.I POST ALL MY ITEMS WORLDWIDE. Spitfire P9364 On 24th February 1940 Sargent Scott arrived at 12 Group Pool,Aston Down. After converting to Spitfires, he was posted to 222 Squadron at Duxford on 23rd March. He was still with the squadron at the start of the Battle of Britain. On 3rd September 1940 Scott claimed a Dornier D017 and a Messerschmitt bf 109 destroyed, on the 5th a probable Messerschmitt me110 and Messerschmitt bf109, on the 7th he destroyed a Messerschmitt bf109, on the 9th probably destroyed another Messerschmitt bf109 and on the 11th shot down a Heinkel he 111.
