Premium Grade Coins INDO-SASSANIAN GADHIYA PAISA AD OBVERSE: HEAD OF EMPEROR REVERSE: FIRE ALTAR SIZE RANGE: 15-18 MM WEIGHT RANGE: 4-4.5G Indo-Sassanian Gadhiya paisa coins are degenerate copies of Sassanian silver coins which circulated in Afghanistan and India from the 8th to 11th centuries. These coins are referred as Indo-Sassanian for combining Indian characters with the Sassanian types. Some derive the word Gadhiya from the Ghardabhiya dynasty-which is an Indo-Sassanian family of that name, subsequent to the year 420 A.D. Reference: "Origin of Bombay by Jose Gerson de Cunha" The design of the coin was based on the Sassanian fire altar that was produced about 300 years earlier. Throughout Sassanid history a freestanding fire-altar was given a prominent place on coinage. ****you are buying one coin*** the coins in the pictures are one of the actual coins you will receive I would grade these as a Premium/Premium Plus grade coin see photo for details and make your own decission I also have these in a Medium grade for $24.99 My coins come in 5 grades; · Culls – show little or no detail · Good Promo Grade – Shows some detail.
