Up for auction is an exquisite Limoges poppy porcelain plate, about 8.5" in width. Lovely red-orange poppies on a beautiful background of greens and lavendar/blues, with a most lavish gold border. It is signed at about 4 oclock on the plate with an artistic signature in black which appears to me to be "F. Pirom," or perhaps it is "Hirom" or "Hiroy" but maybe you know more about that. On the back is stamped: "J.P.L. France," and "Hand Stouffer Painted." Condition: I think it is in superior condition, with minimum wear: no chips, cracks, missing gold, or crazing. T is about a 1/4" scratch at about 8 oclock which is visable on the photo, but I had to really examine it to find anything wrong. Below that is also a pinhead white dot. But, t is so much going on in this beautiful artwork that you really don't see it unless you are specifically looking for it. Background: My in-laws who owned an antique shop in North Carolina gave it to me sometime in the early 60's. I displayed it for a few yrs, but it has been in storage since arriving in California in the late 60's. I have parted with a few companion poppy plates, and this is my last one and absolutely the most gorgeous of all them all. It has far more gold and is far more lavish than the others were. The colors are actually brighter than it shows in the picture due to the flash. I am read more
