This is a very early J. W. Mccoy Carnelian blended glaze jardiniere, 9.5-10" rim width, and 8.75" tall. Shown in the early (1904) catalogue as a Carnelian blended glaze jardiniere, this is one of the earliest pieces of Mccoy you can find. The jard has lion faces on opposite sides, and a beautiful combination of bright green, yellow, and brown glazes. Very bright majolica blended colors and a pleasing shape and design make this an outstanding show piece. Marked #288 on the bottom. CONDITION- OVERALL EXCELLENT-No cracks or chips and the glaze is nice with moderate even crazing. Colors are bright. Minor mold flaws done in the making, and two small glaze flakes on the bottom edge of 2 feet were touched up and don't detract from an outstanding display. It shows EXCELLENTLY. See more pictures at /mccoy.html The colors are perfect as they drip over the embossed designs. Shown in Sanford's Mccoy Pottery Collector's Ref. Book. It's not marked, as was common, but DEFINITELY Mccoy. It's an exceptionally nice piece for any collection. You'll love it. I GUARANTEE THIS IS VINTAGE ORIGINAL J. W. MCCOY. Buy with certainty.
