This is an original autograph of Jack Dempsey (boxing champion) on an older 50-Franc Moroccan banknote. I regularly collect numismatic items, including banknotes, and this one was somewhat unusual in that it has an autograph. The banknote was issued in Morocco in January 1943, so the autograph was signed sometime after 1943. During World War II, Morocco was a French protectorate, and it's possible that this banknote was picked up by a WWII soldier (I'm not sure if Jack Dempsey had been to Morocco during WWII). The autograph is consistent with other items that have Jack Dempsey's autograph on it, so it appears to me as being original. Unfortuantely, the Moroccan banknote was damaged due to someone placing clear tape over the top of the banknote, probably putting it in an album. The Moroccan banknote itself is very common, and isn't worth much numismatically. The banknote was manufactured by E.A. Wright Bank Note Company of Philadelphia, and despite the tape on it, it's in 'very good' condition. Bidding starts at only $1.00 for this item!
