An exquisite detailed miniature portrait of 'Jamie' by Joyce O M Kastner (1922-2011), who painted under her maiden name of Lillingston - hence the painting is signed 'JOML' in the lower right hand side. This is believed to be a commission painted on Ivorine and was painted in 1972 when she lived in Eastbourne. On the back of the unframed painting in pencil are the words "'Jamie' by Joyce Lillingston, 1972". A life-long artist, Joyce attended the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, where she studied for four years, specialising in portraiture. She was an associate member of the Royal Miniature Society and a founding member of the Hilliard Society, exhibiting annually with these as well as the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Academy. The oval painting measures 66mm x 55mm.
