JAPANESE ANTIQUE COPPER TREE BARK DESIGN TEA KETTLE Antique tooled copper alloy Japanese tea pot from the late Taisho period (circa 1925) . The entire exterior of the pot features a hand tooled cherry bark design (see picture 8).It has a fold down handle for a low profile (see picture 7) and a pour spout with hinged lid (see picture 4). It measures 6 1/4" high with handles folded down (16 cm) and 6" (15 cm) across.Over the last century it has been well used yet well loved and remains in good condition throughout with a deep dark original patina. There is one small exterior scuff. While the exterior is in copper, there is a zinc wash throughout the interior (see picture 5) to help prevent any oxidation. Holds approximately 1 1/2 quarts (1.2 L) and has been tested to be water tight. It would also make a fine tea pot for sencha tea.
