Nyudo Soten Tsuba Well foreged round quality iron Ji Tsukashi Openwork Tsuba is decorated with Gold, Suakudo and Suaka (copper) Zogan Inlay. Nyudo Soten - saku (made by) Soten Tsuba usually depicts fighting scenes of Samurai from a famous battle. This Tsuba however is rare because the scene is of a mythical fight between a Samurai and a Dragon. The Samurai flying through the sky and attacking the Dragon with his straight sword (Ken) The other Samurai is riding his elegant horse. This is a quality Tsuba. SOTEN TSUBA from EDO Period. SOTEN school was developed in Goshu area (HIKONE) in Japan, close to Lake BIWA. This TSUBA is showing the characteristic of SOTEN school very well, which is the realistic movement of these warriors in the battle with so animoto movement with high layer carving & nice SUKASHI (cut-out open design). The gorgeous inlay by gold, copper, and syakudo is another elegant element of SOTEN TSUBA design. Age: Made the Edo period (1603 - 1868) Size (cm) : about 7.8cm X 7.3cm X 0.4cm.
