This is a Japanese sword in honzukuri mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri , ca.1940 era made hand forged gendai blade The blade shows light aged stains on surface but no deep rust and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome with choji-ashi temper pattern throughout the blade and has o-maru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada and no forging flaws at all. There is no nick, no bend, no opening, no crack temper and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard original wood scabbard shows minor dents no crack, no lacquer loss and in good condition. The handle fit tight with bamboo leaves design brass fuchi-kashira and matched flower design menuki. The tsuba is paulownia leaf design brass tsuba with nice patina. It is dressed up with new tassel and good for iai-do or cutting practice sword. It measures 27 7/8" tip to the guard, 27" cutting edge, 1 3/16" width, 7mm thickness at the notch, and 38" in mountings. Shipping is $20 priority in U.S. World wide shipping available.
