This is Japanese sword wakizashi in mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri, with bohi engravings, Muromachi period ca.1550 era made sword. The blade is in old polish, shows aged tiny flea-bite rust on surface but in good condition. The temper line is wavy notare temper and has komaru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame hada and no forging flaws. T is no bend, no nicks, no crack and the cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is old urushi -lacquered, shows aged wear, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with matched fuchi kashira .and no menuki and tsuka-ito wrappings. The tsuba is fence design heavy iron tsuba with nice patina. It measures 19 1/4" cutting edge, 1 1/8" width, 6mm thickness at the notch and 27" in mountings.
