Another of my many Japanese Antique dealer auction acquisitions: This early Showa era (c.1930) Japanese small wooden table is an altar table used in a traditional home butsudan (Buddhist shrine). It is made of age cured sugi (cryptomeria) wood. It consists of three pieces (see picture 10) and has a diamond shape. The entire front has makie (raised gold) peonies over a black lacquer base. The top is in red lacquer with a black cover. Having been used sparingly and lovingly and probably stored away for nearly a century, aside from minor signs of use it remains overall in excellent condition. This well cured cryptomeria wood altar is sure to stand the test of time for another century. It sits flat and level and measures 6.5" wide, 3.5" distance, and 3" high including the top tray (16 x 8.3 x 7.5 cm). A very elegant and functional piece of art for you to display your treasures .You'll love it, I guarantee it.........If you purchase this item and are not completely delighted with it, you may return it for a no questions asked refund within 14 days of receipt.
