Since 1951, Jansem's work has been exhibited in France (Paris, Amiens, Nantes, Avignon, Marseille, Nancy, Toulouse, Cannes, Mulhouse, Bayonville, Clermont-Ferrand...), as well as several other cities in other countries such as Rome, Palermo, Lausanne, New-York, Chicago, Palm-Beach, London, Brussels, Montréal, Tokyo, Osaka, Beirut, Sao Paolo, Johannesburg, Germany, Art Expo New York and Los Angeles!In 1969, Jansem was the subject of a retrospective exhibition in Tokyo, which considerably increased his recognition – two museums have since been dedicated to him, including the Jansem Museum in Tokyo Ginza, and the Azumino Jansem Museum in Nagano-Ken. He received several prizes over the course of his career, including – amongst other distinctions – the Bruges Biennale Prize and Comparaison Prize, Mexico, in 1958, and was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 2003. His works are featured in some of the largest public and private collections, including those of the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Jansem Museum in Tokyo, the Pushkin Museum, and the Museum of the Armenian Genocide, in Erevan.I've titled this artist proof lithograph by Jean Jansem "Three Figures". I titled it because I cannot find any other examples of this lithograph anywhere... it is that rare! Additionally, he may have only made a one or two artist proofs and there may not have been a main edition because I haven't seen any others. Jansem's unique use of color, brings light to this composition. This color is not constrained by the line, and it is this separation of the line and color which lends this composition a sense of light and volume. Arguably, this is one of his rarest and most empathetically rendered lithographs to be offered for public sale within the past 30 years!Jean Jansem's art is well sought after by collectors and has been sold by more than 50 major auction houses, in at least 7 countries!
