Please note....the image of Jeff photographing in this listing is forreferenceonly and is notincludedwith this auction...just thought you would like to see the guy back in the day :)JEFF NIXON C1978 JEFFREY PINE ON SENTINEL DOME 8X10 PHOTOGRAPHTHIS IS THE SAME JEFFREY PINE THAT ANSEL ADAMSPHOTOGRAPHED IN 1940First time I've ever listed this Jeff Nixon image for sale.The gnarled tree, photographed by Carleton Watkins in 1867 and later made famous by Ansel Adams, had stood dead since a severe drought in 1977. It finally fell in 2003 between Aug. 9th- 11th after a series of severe storms. "It just gave," said Raye Santos, Yosemite's park photographer and spokeswoman, who hiked the two-mile trail up to the granite dome to see the fallen tree for herself. "I've been able to photograph this tree in all stages of its life.It was a poetic experience for me as a photographer to witness the beauty of this tree."Eric Antebi, a spokesman for the Sierra Club, called the Jeffrey pine "probably one of the most photographed trees ever."******We are continuing to update our website listing many photographs in "Our Current Under $100.00 Specials" There are even some Jeff Nixon's now listed there.When Brett Weston, Ruth Bernhard, and Imogen Cunningham were in their 60's you could have bought photographs by them for under $200.00.....think these Nixon
