John Erskine SIGNED "Uncle Sam in the Eyes of His Family" (Bobbs-Merrill Co., 1930) RARE Limited 1st Edition, 1st Printing FlatSigned by John Erskine (1879-1951), a prominent American author and educator! This is a rare numbered limited first edition of his book Uncle Sam in the Eyes of His Family ! Includes a tipped-in page of the original manuscript which has been corrected and initialed in pencil by Erskine himself! A fantastic collector's item! Hardcover with a signature on the limited edition page. "Autographed Edition of UNCLE SAM In the Eyes of His Family limited to three hundred and fifty-six copies of which this is number 315 Including a page of the original manuscript corrected and initialed by the Author" is stated on the limited edition page. Book is beautifully bound with heavy dark red cloth-bound boards with beveled edges, top page edge gilt, and a satin bookmark (bookmark has separated from binding but is still included)! Book is in VERY GOOD- condition and is tightly bound with clean, crisp pages inside. Some light rubbing and toning along edges of boards, spine is sunned and has a slight lean, some light bumping on corners. Pages have no stray marks or inscriptions from previous owners. This book is in great shape for its age and it would make a wonderful addition to any collection! FlatSigned means HAND SIGNED on the page, not personalized (as in "To Billy") or signed on an attached sticker or bookplate. A book which has been FlatSigned is almost always a better investment and is far more desirable than a book that is personalized or contains a signed sticker/bookplate.
