I'm offering a large original Oil on Canvas by John Lloyd Strevens (1902-1990) 'Summer Interior' Signed bottom left. Titled with artists name in marker verso. Canvas stamped with C.Robersons & Co Ltd, 71 Parkway (which dates it -not surprisingly - between 1939-1987. Impress your relatives this Christmas with this idealised view of domestic bliss in a traditional beamed cottage . A moustachioed man is playing with one of a couple of spaniels in his armchair. His pretty companion looks on attentively. Summer garden blooms can be seen through the window. Measures 19" x 23 1/4" (49cm x 59cm) Frame is 25 x 29" (63.7cm x 74cm) Condition of the painting is fair rather than good. There is some thinning of the paint to the top of the fireplace and several tiny specks of paint loss to the left and bottom margins . Wear down the very edge down the left side and particularly to the 2 bottom corners including the S of 'Strevens'. Frame has some staining to the canvas trim, is a bit grimy in places I've not attempted to clean it up. Frame not been repainted. 2 minor nibbles to bottom corners.
