This is a custom 12" figure commemorating one of the most well known outlaw/ gunman of the Old West, John Wesley Hardin. John Wesley Hardin was the most feared gunman in Texas. He is said to have killed at least 21 men. Nothing in Hardin's early life would have pointed toward his being a gunman or killer. He was raised by church going hard working parents. He was even named after the esteemed Methodist leader John Wesley. Hardin's forefathers were well thought of, one was a congressman, another a judge (Hardin County was named after him), yet another had signed the Texas Declaration of Independence. Wes killed his first man at age fifteen. He had bested an ex-slave in a fight and the man named Mage threatened to kill him. Later Mage waited for Hardin on the road with a big stick. Hardin came down the road, Mage came at him, Hardin pulled an old Colt pistol and shot his assailant three times in the chest. John Wesley Hardin had practiced shooting from an early age and was quite a marksman. Later he killed three Union soldiers that he heard were looking for him at a friend's ranch. During a later altercation with a disgruntled poker player Hardin showed what was to become one of the most unique gun drawing methods ever used.
