Kara-Kush Akhal Teke Mare - RESS Sculpture Challenge Winner by Andrea Kessler! Painted by Sheila Anderson Just completed is this lovely Akhal Teke Mare, Kara-Kush. She is a traditional size resin model which won the 2006 Realistic Sculpture Society sculpture challenge. The detail in this model is top rate. She is very femine, has beautiful muscle, veining and movement. She is so correct for the Akhal Teke breed and what a beautiful face! She is hollow cast, very light weight and has a supre smooth finish. She comes with a support base on her front foot which is premanently attached. She has been given a buckskin dun coat with primitive markings (see pics). The base was airbrushed in acrylic. Over the base layers of pastel and color pencil was applied to achieve the careful shading from light buckskin to black. She has tons of hand painted, highlight veining, two rear socks with ermine spots, very detailed eyes and smutty shoulder and hip markings. Her mane is full of lighter colored root hairs, penciled in along with the base of her tail. She has a strong dorsal stripe and loads and loads of hand painted leg bars. Her forelock also has tons of tiny root hairs, plus her ears are lined in black. Her hooves are heavily shaded gray in the front and shading natural in the rear with lots of stripes. She is sealed with a matte finish, read more
