>> KW Praktiflex 1st version with Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 5cm F3.5 c. 1940 << (see large item photos below the description) Description Up for auction is a very nice Praktiflex with 5cm F3.5 Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar lens (with M40 mount), made by Kamera Werkstätten, Dresden Niedersedlitz. It's the predecessor of the later Praktica cameras. The camera looks nice and is in EXC/EXC- condition. The camera is relatively uncommon, its serial number is 5189. It's the distinctive model with the strap lugs on the front of the body (this is the only model that had it). Mechanics Mechanically everything appears to be working. However the camera has been untested with film so please bid accordingly. The shutter fires and all speeds can be distinguished from each other. There is no shutter drag. Film wind-on and shutter cocking is very smooth. The semi quick-return mirror works perfectly. The shutter curtains appear to be in a great condition without wrinkles. The mirror is unscratched but is only a little dusty. The ground glass screen needs to be cleaned. Optics The Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 5cm F3.5 is of course uncoated. The diaphragm blades are completely clean. Diaphragm movement is smooth. The focusing helicoid is a little stiff from age but it can still be easily focused. There's no play in the focusing helicoid.
