WITH HEARTS MOTI F SILVERTONE CRUCIFIX AND MATCHING SACRED HEART OF JESUS "SCAPULAR" MEDAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES: BEADS: The beads are large 8mm fire polished faceted glass from Europe. These beads do not chip easily and wear very well. These beads are not "coated" - THE COLOR GOES CLEAR THROUGH AND WILL NOT WEAR OFF. The beads feel nice and smooth when slipping through the fingers. QUALITY MATERIALS: Metal parts are silver finish "base metal" with brite nickel finish chain that keeps its shine after much use. The "Our Father" beads are covered with lacy filigreed base metal "caps." This standard 5-decade Rosary has an overall length of about 22", making this a large Rosary with a substantial feel to it. *STRONG AND DURABLE ASSEMBLY: This Rosary is made on the original "Old Mexico" pattern that I have been using for 40 years. Note that the double chains are continuous around the entire 5 decades. There are NO breaks in the chain at the Our Father beads between decades. Also this Rosary is assembled with handmade twisted nickel silver wire "bows." These features make for a strong Rosary that does not come apart easily (and also these features set this handcrafted Rosary apart from some imported 'ladder' Rosaries which have breaks in the chain at the Our Fathers and are assembled with jump rings instead of the stronger handcrafted wire "bows"). Under normal use, these Rosaries are the closest thing to "unbreakable" you can find, because the "pull" is on the chain, not on the wire pins which often pull open on regular Rosaries. ABOUT MY "OLD MEXICO" LADDER ROSARIES : Double chain Rosaries turn up here and there around the world. The first one I saw (in Colorado) belonged to a friend who had obtained it from a street vendor outside the Old Cathedral in Mexico City. Because the beads hung crossways between two chains, she called it a "ladder Rosary," or a "ladder to climb to heaven." (Hers was made - as I still make them today - with continuous chain around the 5 decades, no breaks anywhere.) The chain on her Rosary differed from standard American Rosary chain. In June, 1971, I decided to make a "ladder" Rosary for myself, figuring out how to space beads on standard chain. Everyone who saw my Rosary wanted one, and my Mom and I found ourselves inundated with orders from all over the U.S. for "Old Mexico Ladder Rosaries." Since then, our Rosaries have been widely copied by other makers. In these 40 years Mom and I have made over 12,000 Ladder Rosaries -- all made with the same care and meticulous attention to craftsmanship. In November '06 I began offering them on eBay.
