For sale is an early 19th century Lakota pipe bag. The shape of this type of bag resembles the old bags for which one merely tanned the hide of an animal to obtain a container to store the pipe in. The bag has the distinctive lower tips which represent the hind legs of the animal. The bag has a very fine patina and would make a beautiful decoration for your home or you simply use it to store your pipe in. The bag is handcrafted from brain tanned deerhide and old Czech seed beads using the same techniques and materials as in the old days. Bead colors are chalk white, red-white-inside, powder blue and bottle green. The designs on both sides vary, so do the colors of the center stripes which are dyed dark yellow, respectively green, with earth paint.
