This is a full sized replica of a LAPD Badge produced by the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club (LAPRAAC) for its members to purchase who participated in the 2006 Baker to Vegas race. Only 500 badges were made and each was sequentially stamped on the backside. It was designed for the LAPD officers and civilian employees to purchase as a memento this grueling race (and notoriously wild weekend). Each badge originally sold for $30 and was designed as a replica of the LAPD badge, with the Baker to Vegas theme in the middle w city hall ordinarily would be. The badges were made to a very high standard and I am amazed by the weight, they actually more than my real badge. The badges have maintained their shine over the last two years, except the snake had added more patina, making it look better since it has given more contrast to the scales. The 2006 badge is curved, while the 2007 is flatter. Each year the Baker toVegas commemorative badge was designed and made by LAPRAAC, which is owned and the LAPD officers that are its members (over 90% of LAPD officers are members). You will not find another full sized LAPD replica that is as linked to the LAPD as these badges. Additionally, LAPRAAC owns the trade mark on the LAPD badge, so this allows them to be the only organization to create something that so resembles the badge. THIS read more
