Beautiful dark coral ribbed decanter from Murano in the 1950s. Amazing sommerso treatment with the dark coral overlaid with aventurine controlled-bubble decoration and a clear layer on top. Shows the incredible craftsmanship of Barbini, not just in the sommerso layering, but also the ribbed body and base and the twisted flame stopper. Purchased in Murano in the 1950s by an art glass collecter who traveled there each year. Measures 20 1/2 inches tall with the stopper (15 1/2 inches without) and 4 3/4 inches in diameter at the base. In excellent condition with no issues on the body, just some nicks around the bottom edge of the inserted part of the stopper (see last photo.)
