Sankaat is pleased to present for your cosideration this Scarce Delft Apothecary Jar made exclusively for the Historic Area Shops of Colonial Williamsburg! Jars like this one were used by 18th century chemists and apothecaries (pharmacists) to store herbs and drugs. The front cartouche of the jars would bear the name of the remedy for "potion" contained inside. Based upon an original English delftware example in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg foundation this jar is marked on the base with the Royal Goedewaagen mark and the Stamp of the Prentis shop - the Historic Shops of Colonial Williamsburg brand. This jar is in excellent condition with surprisingly NO chips, nicks or cacks. This 7.75 inch by 5.25 inch jar would be ideal for the Colonial Enthusiast or Williamsburg Collector who only buys antiques and fine reproductions made of the highest quality by Oud, Michelle Erickson, and Goedewaagen.
