This is a beautiful GEORGIAN ANTIQUE BURR WALNUT TEA CADDY In my estimation it dates from around the mid 18th Century, circa 1760-1780, but please make up your own mind about this. The caddy measures approx 12 1/4 inches (315mm) long, by 6 1/2 inches (165mm) deep, by 6 1/2 inches (165mm) tall, and is made from burr walnut, with boxwood stringing around the edges and on the lid. Inside, the caddy has two compartments. The lids are complete with their brass knobs, and there is a central well for a mixing bowl. There are a various old repairs and flaws to the veneer, all of which add to the charachter of the piece(please see photos.). This is a beautiful, large, early tea caddy, with lots of charachter, and it would make a great addition to any collection.
