Huge wire silver specimen from Morocco! Imiter Mine, Imiter District, Djebel Saghro, Ouarzazate Province, MoroccoThis is a very large native silver wire specimen from the Imter Mine, Morocco. It measures ~ 107 by 50 by 25 mm. It weighs 144.6 grams and is made mostly of silver, with some associated calcite and acanthite. A few wires measure up to 1-2 cm long, but most are smaller, in dense nests. This is a really nice, large specimen of native silver. The scale cube in the photos is 1 cm. I am aware that many fake silver wire specimens (baked acanthite) have been coming out of Morocco in recent years. I have seen real and fake specimens, and closely examined the matrix of this specimen for discoloration, dehydration, and other evidence of baking. I believe that this specimen is natural. From Wikipedia:Imiter is the seventh biggest producer of silver in the world, and is the largest mine in Africa. It is exploited by SMI (Société Métallurgique d'Imiter), of which the Moroccan royal family is the main shareholder.Domestic shipping via USPS priority.
