You are bidding on a large Shiva Lingam. It is 8 1/2 inches long, 4 1/2 inches in diameter and weighs 8 lb. 8.0 oz. This is abeautiful stone with unbelievable color and pattern. Shiva Lingams originate only from the bed of the Narmada River , the "Mother and giver of peace," in Madhya Pradesh Province in India . Legend has it that the mere sight of this river is enough to cleanse one's soul, as opposed to a dip in the Ganges or seven dips in the Yamuna. This is one of the seven sacred holy places of pilgrimage in India . Formed of crypto crystalline quartz, these stones are thought to contain the loftiest vibrations of any stone on earth. It has been suggested in Indian belief that these stones are formed as the result of fusion of earth material by a meteor strike. They are tumbled by the river, collected at low water in the dry season by local villagers and hand polished to bring out the markings, called "Yoni".
