This is my version of a N essmuck, no w again with my makers mark , although it is hidden by the parkerizing. O riginally designed by naturalist and writer George Sears. made from .214"thick 5160 spring/tool steel. T he finishing process will have removed some thousandths. I hand forge the taper to the edge in, then finish grind, oil harden, temper and usually polish them, but this one i parkerized. Parkerizing is a corrosion resistant Zinc Phosphate coating commonly used on military equipment. It doesn't make them pretty, but it does make them practical. It is 9&7/16" overall and 4&7/8" tip to wood. The katalox scales are polished and finished with an Orange oil/beeswax combo, have brass hardware and are removable. There turned out to be a void in the wood at the pommel, i filled it with epoxy. I suppose the bidding will determine if that was a mistake.
