Here is an incredibly scarce opportunity to acquire an unaltered SINGLE Signed LOU GEHRIG on the sweetspot on a late 1920s Spalding Bounder ball measuring 8.5in in circumference, with a sewn on canvas cover. A normal major league ball is 9.5in around. This ball is signed in fountain pen. An amazing estate find from 3 years ago, now put up on the market for the 1st time. Acquired from Family members of their departed grandfather in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Members say that their Great Grandfather had the ball signed in the late 1920s, where he lived in New York at the time. Later the Gehrig ball was then given to his son for safe keeping in the early 1950s. For the next 60 years this ball was kept in a dresser drawer for most of the time since, keeping this ball in an overall state of good condition. This was the only piece of sporting memorabilia this person would ever own. No one in the family was ever a sports fan, so there was no interest in keeping it. This ball is not altered in any way. There is considerable aging present on the ball but displays extremely well, while holding a nice natural patina covering it. This is unquestionably an Original/Authentic Lou Gehrig signature.
