LE MARCUS W. STEWART PRINT LIGHTNING OVER MINDORO NO RESERVE!!! This auction is for a rare, limited edition aviation print. It is of Capt. Joel B. Paris III's P-38 Lightning "Georgia Belle". Dec 20, 1944: Mindoro Island, PI While escorting a PBY to the beachead landing on Mindoro Island in the Philippines, Capt Joel B. Paris III, leading a flight of 3 P-38 Lightnings, was jumped from above by 10 Japanes Zero fighters. Despite being hit in the cockpit area by 20mm and 51 cal shells, Capt Paris quickly maneuvered onto the attacking Zero's tail and destroyed him. As the fight continued, Capt. Paris shot down another Zero on the tail of his wingman and damaged one other enemy fighter. The enemy fled the battle, and Capt. Paris' flgiht continued to cover the undamaged PBY. General Paris finished the war with 9 confirmed victories and 7 probables. It is signed by the artist Marcus W. Stewart, Jr. and General Joel B. Paris, III.
