I believe this to be a very well done reproduction of a Lee Dudley (Knotts Island, NC) Ruddy Duck. This was part of an estate in Northern California with a number of good decoys. My specialty is in west coast decoys and I do not know enough about decoys outside of my area of expertise to be confident to claim this as authentic. This is why we should encourage all decoy artists to brand their reproduction carvings. Please bear all of this in mind if you decide to bid on this one. I can answer any questions you might have or will be happy to provide additional photos. If you have an opinion, I will gladly post your remarks. I know there will be those more knowledgable than me on this one. Nevertheless, this is a very cute little decoy measuring just under 10" from bill to tail. I've seen a lot of restored and contemporary reproductions of valuable old decoys. If this is reproduction, it is probably the best one I've ever seen. If enough collectors say it is reproduction, I retain the option to pull the listing. I want to be as forthcoming as possible.
