You are bidding on the Sanibel Island, Florida Historic Lefton (Rotating Beacon) Lighthouse. This is a collector's edition lighthouse that has a Rotating (Light) Beacon and is much more valuable than the smaller plain lighted version. Built in 1884 on the crescent-shaped Sanibel Island in Florida, the 98 foot tower was lit by a third order Fresnel lens. Interestingly the ship carrying the lighthouse material sank in 1884 about 2 miles from the island. However, most of the lighthouse pieces were recovered by divers and the lighthouse, consisting of four iron legs arranged in a pyramidal fashion around a cylindrical central column, was built and ready to be lit by keeper Dudley Richardson on August 20, 1884. Much of Florida's southwestern coast is shadowed by a string of barrier islands. The Gulf current sweeps up the coast from the south, and the crescent-shaped Sanibel Island, positioned sideways to the flow, scoops up an abundant supply of seashells. Tourists now flock to the island to collect their perfect shell. This lighthouse stands 12" tall and normally sells for about $50 retail.
