Gorgeous ruby red tumbler by Ronald Stennett-Willson for Lemington Glassworks, Newcastle-upon-Tyne One of the most distinctive designs by Ronald Stennett-Willson, these tumblers just sit perfectly in your hand. In the 1950s Ronald Stennett-Willson collaborated with the Lemington Glassworks, which was then run by the General Electric Company (GEC),and Osram. He designed various tumblers and sherry glasses in 1959, in clear and harlequin (mixed colour) sets. He also designed vases, bowls and lidded jars, and won a Design Award for his ‘Canberra’ vases, which were originally created for the P&O shipping line. He also designed for British Rail and for the Carlton Tower Hotel in London. Stennett-Willson became Reader in the Department of Industrial Glass at the Royal College of Art, where he taught for a number of years, before setting up King’s Lynn Glass in Norfolk in 1967. In 1969 Kings Lynn became part of Wedgwood. The tumbler offered for sale is 3½" tall, and is in excellent condition. It has no chips, cracks or damage. Made: Hand-made in England.
