I am able to list authentic Indian items for such a reasonable price because the Hopi Reservation is home. The people that I list are friends, neighbors and members of neighboring tribes. I often lose money on the sales after paying all the fees and satellite Internet service charges because we do not have a local Internet provider on Hopi. The reason I do this is to help promote the quality of art available on the Native American Reservations. Now else in the world will you find such a large concentration of artists and craftsperson' s. I encourage you all to plan a family vacation to Indian Country. It is an experience like no other. It will give you an opportunity to see mystical lands w traditions generations old are still practiced. You will also be able to meet and purchase art and crafts directly from these fabulous people. Help Needed As many of our Ebay friend know Stephen has the joy of serving as the Hopi Tribes Santa Claus. Years ago he realized that most Hopi Children do not ask for gifts for Christmas. The unemployment rate on reservation is over 50%, making Christmas toys a luxury that many families are not able to provide. Four years ago we asked our Ebay friends to help Santa provide toys for the Hopi children. The response was nothing short of a miracle. For twelve months gifts were mailed to Hopi Santa from all over the world. Hamden Middle School in Connecticut had a toy drive and also provided gifts for the Hopi Elders. Last year approximately 800 toys and books were distributed. Each child had the joy of choosing a toy. We were also blessed with the assistance of two of the greatest elves imaginable. Clay and Judi are friends that we met via Ebay. They traveled to Hopi from Mesquite, Nevada with a truckload of toys and assisted Santa with the distribution of toys. I have created a web page with photos of last year's program and information about the Hopi Christmas Angles Program. We will be continuing the program for Christmas 2006 and will need even more help. We have found with the responsibilities that often take us away from the reservation that it is difficult for us to continue this program. Stephen has announced that this year will be his last year serving as Santa.
