Lionel Super Rare and Exceptionally Clean Like New C-8 . Lionel #240 Steam engine and tender. Circa 1964. This was an uncataloged engine for production in the exclusive Sears Military Set.in 1964. This is 100% real and original. Has the jewel inserts in markers, has the later smoke unit. 2 Position motor. Motor works fine, smoke works as well. Also has light and the light works.. Tender has all the steps and is in equally super super condition. Looking at the rollers and wheels on both engine and tender you can see that this one has been used very slightly and shows very little signs of wear if any. May have only been test run. . Paint condition and lettering is super clean and shows no play wear at all. This is about as good as it gets and was manufactured circa 1964 . There was no separate box for this unit it came as part of a tray pack set... There are no breaks or cracks or chips. There are however some oxidation on the side frames, some surface oxidation under pilot a trailer trucks. Also has a blotched area on tender frame underside, but I have seen this before on these tenders, seems that the process that was used to stamp in the Lionel Corporation markings on the underside of the tender did not bode well with the cheaper metal they started using in the 60's.
