It is NOT original. The Lionel Girls Train Set was sold in 1957 and 1958. It was an attempt to broaden the appeal of toy trains to girls by offering a train with a pink engine and tender and several pastel colored freight cars. The set was Lionel No. 1587S. The attempt failed; not many were sold; and pastel colors were mostly discontinued. Features include a die-cast locomotive and a plastic tender, motor, reverse unit, an operating headlight, an operating smoke unit, metal side rods, and metal wheels. This locomotive and tender have been repainted and custom decals have been added. This item has a fair number of scratches. It clearly shows signs of use, but it is complete and fully functional. Overall condition is Very Good. This item was inspected by both our in-house Lionel Postwar experts and by our Authorized Lionel Service Station and we guarantee this item is completely functional and operable. Please see the inspection card for details. The heater assembly has been replaced and parts for the E-Unit have been replaced and cleaned. Overall condition is Very Good.
