Welcome to my auction of this Lionel 2360 GG1 in Exceptional condition and has all original glaze wheels! Must see and would be a great piece to add to your post war collection.Production: 1956 - 1958 & 1961 - 1963History:The 2360 Pennsylvania Electric was the final GG1 produced during the postwar era. This has had your basic bench testing done. The eunit works in all directs and the light works as well. This prototypical engine continues to be a desirable item for collectors and operators. Its sheer weight and impressive size speaks volumes regarding the quality and workmanship built into the locomotive by Lionel. To this day, a postwar GG1 remains in a class by itself.The GG1's 4-6-6-4 wheel arrangement, dual pantographs and overall symmetry makes it an easily-recognized piece of railroading and model railroading history. Although you'll occasionally hear it referred to as an ugly duckling , most enthusiasts believe every collection must have at least one GG1 in order to appreciate its beauty and history.For those model railroaders enthusiastic enough to install overhead wiring on a layout, all GG1's were built to use power from either Lionel's center rail or from its functional pantographs. In either case, the 2360 is a phenomenal running diesel.Features:Standard features of the 2360 GG1 include: sheet-metal frame, die-cast body, two functional pantographs, three-position E-unit, dual motors with Magnetraction, headlight at each end, operating horn and dual operating couplers. Also included on the shell are an ornamental horn at each end, side decals and end decals with the number 2360 imprinted in the end decal.There were two independent production runs of the 2360 -- each one lasting three years. During the six-year production span, several variations were produced. Listed below are some of the more significant changes:Early Production Run; 1956 - 1958o Body Color - Introduced in 1956 and available in either tuscan or a dark brunswick green. For 1957 and 1958, the 2360 was only produced in dark green.o Side Stripes - Original produced with five thin side stripes. Beginning in 1957, the 2360 was produce with either five thin side stripes or one large, thick side stripe. The dark green version was only produced with 5 thin side stripes.o Side Ventilators - All early production 2360's had a gradually decreasing four-step side ventilator pattern.Late Production Run; 1961 - 1963o Body Color - Only available in tuscan.o Side Stripes - Only produced with the large, thick side stripe.o Side Ventilators - All late production 2360's had three same-sized ventilators with the fourth one just slightly smaller than the first three.Condition:The patina metal is great with the nice deep maroon, gold solid striped 2360 GG1. This has been bench tested and the light works and the Eunit works smoothly in all directions. This wasn't put on the track when it was tested because I did not want to put any wheel wear to on this. The pantographs are in great shape as well. The decals are in great shape as well. It shows original wheel glaze, see pictures of wheels and rollers!! Some would say this is unrun. It has a rub mark on the nose of each side.The insert is nice and crisp, the box has good graphics and it appears to have been re-taped along the one side, shows wear. The battery compartment is "PRISTINE". It comes with the vintage Eveready D cell battery, a Lionel tube of lube with a crisp piece of Lionel postwar wrapping paper. Pictures tell the story always of this beautiful piece.I would ALWAYS recommend getting these antique toy trains serviced as I ONLY collect on condition. All trains can be fixed, but cosmetically you can't change these and condition is EVERYTHING.BUY with confidence and see my reviews as these are all high end postwar collectors items!
