From my childhood train set is this Lionel (Operating) Switch Tower, Model #445, 'Made in U.S. of America, The Lionel Corporation, New York, N.Y.' sometime around 1955 is my guess. The time-line fits. THE OTHER ITEMS IN THE FIRST PHOTO ARE FOR SCALE AND EFFECT ONLY; THEY ARE NOT PART OF THIS AUCTION. BIDDING IS FOR THE SWITCH TOWER ONLY . If this were an automobile I was trying to sell, I'd say something like: Ran great when I parked it...50 years ago. (It worked fine when I stopped using my trains...sometime in the early '60's.) Cosmetically it has survived well, with the only sore spot being green deck paint that was slopped onto the base. After I took the pictures which clearly show it, I tried my fingernail and discovered it will chip off! But I will leave that pleasure to the new owner. :-) As far as I know this item is intact, meaning it has all it left Lionel with. There are no broken or missing bits that I'm aware of, and this was never a kit that needed assembly so the issue of glue is irrelevant. It is solid, together, looking good, and probably would work first time 'round; the tower operator(s) move into and out of the second floor doorway easily and up and down the stairs, as well, when operated by hand.
