This is a Lionel ZW, 275 Watt transformer in great, just serviced condition. Please check all pictures and ask any questions. All pictures are of the actual ZW you will receive and are NOT FILE PHOTOS> I have been repairing model trains, transformers and accessories since the age of 16. That would be 1971. I have since focused on transformers as I have a background in high voltage building and repair. If I am not working on a ZW, I am most likely building a retro tube powered guitar amp. I do repairs on model train transformers and also accept trade ins on occasion in order to save my customers a little money. I do each rebuild myself, so I know each and every nuance of every transformer. IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A ZW ELSEWHERE AND FIND THAT IT NEEDS SERVICING, CONTACT ME ( ), AND I WILL TRY MY BEST TO HELP YOU OUT. I COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLE EACH ZW, CLEAN AND POLISH ALL PARTS BEFORE RE-ASSEMBLY. THIS PARTICULAR ZW HAS BEEN COMPLETELY SERVICED, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: Four new carbon rollers and rivets installed New modern circuit breaker installed and tested to comply with factory original "cut in, "cut out" specs. All is well. Original disc rectifiers have been replaced with 40 amp, 600 volt stud diodes . (Due to customer feedback, I have begun using the 40 amp diodes to help protect newer train electronics from voltage spikes) . Whistle switches have been tested with at least two different whistle tenders and both sound loud and bright. All binding posts have been checked for tightness and any suspect ones replaced. Transformer secondary windings have been cleaned of built up carbon and tested for any "drop outs" along the entire voltage range. Again, all is well. Case, handles, etc. has been inspected for any cracks, deep gouges, etc. (NONE FOUND), cleaned and polished. Metal base has been sanded and refinished in original satin black All lubrication points have been cleaned and re-lubed with a quality dielectric grease as required. All wiring has been checked and all solder joints cleaned and re-soldered. Power cord has been replaced with new 8' cord. (about 6" is taken up inside of case, so actual usable length is about 7'-6"). Output voltage is 21.5 volts as can be seen in pictures . (this voltage actually rivals a Model R. But because it does not have a Model R designation, I will not advertise it as such). This is true for all 4 controls which operate smoothly. All lettering is clean and clear as can be seen in photos. Unit has been bench and track tested with several engines and accessories to insure reliability. All in all, this is a great.ZW It is guaranteed to hook up and run. I guarantee any transformer I rebuild for 24 months. But if, at any time, you should have a problem with it, contact me and I will strive to make it right! It comes with a copy of the original operating instructions.
