You are bidding on one new hand made Primitive Deer Antler Hunting Knife and a Sash Knife Sheath. Backwoodsmen Riflemen's Knife design Circa 1600 - 1790 Makes a Great Hunting Knife!! Longhunters and Native Americans used this type of knife for loading thier Flintlock Rifles & for hunting/skinning game in Colonial America!! I got my ideal of making this Colonial Longhunter Knife design from Madison Grant's Book: The Knife in Home Spun America. This is a great looking French & Indian or Rev War Riflemens Knife!!!!!!!!!!!!! This Deer Antler Handled Knife holds well in either the right or left hand and is very well balanced. This well made Knife has a really Nice Looking DEER ANTLER CROWN Handle and measures 12 5/8 inches over all. Knife Blade is forged from 1095 high carbon steel, 7 5/8 inches long, 1 inch wide, and 1/8 of a inch thick. The b lade also has my maker's mark T over C is stamped in with hearts & on the other side of the blade, I stamped in a Ole English Cross!! The Blade was properly heat treated and oil quenched to obtain a nice hard cutting edge that holds a sharp edge well. This knife has a hot poured ( a good hard tin mixed ) pewter bolster and the knife tang goes all the way through the deer antler handle together that makes it very strong.
