The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to add its own pure silver coin as numismatic tributes to this great artist and to celebrate 25 Years of Canada’s iconic Loonie.Richard Hunt’s design shows two loons kissing reflected in the water; the beauty of a West Coast sunset captured in the fiery colours on the coin. The birds’ stunning markings are further represented in the ring of diamond shapes surrounding the image. Coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint branded maroon clamshell case lined with flock and protected by a customized sleeve to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the loonie. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY Richard Hunt Richard Hunt was born in Alert Bay, British Columbia in 1951 but has lived most of his life in Victoria, where he completed his high school education.He began carving with his father, the late Henry Hunt, at the age of thirteen. In 1973, Richard began work at the Royal British Columbia Museum as an apprentice carver under his father.
