This listing is for a hard to find covered round butter dish in the Blue Onion pattern by LORENZ Hutschenreuther Germany. (AKA Blau Zwiebelmuster) The blue onion design was copied from early Chinese export china and has remained popular with many china manufacturers. In researching this pattern,I found that this particular item isn't available on the most popular replacement site. They explain that it was made but they do not have one.The underplate that holds the butter measures approx 5.75" across. The dome cover measures 4" across. From the base to the highest point on the top is 3.5" tall. I see only one flaw. It is w the little top piece on the dome meets the dome(the finial,top little knob) Right at the base of the little top piece, I see what looks like some chipping. It looks like it might have been repaired . It only shows if you look very closely and it is only on one side. If displayed from one angle,it looks perfect. If you turn it around and look really closely, you can see the flaw. For display purposes, it looks great. But I do want you to be aware of everything I see. On the underside of the base, t are some rub marks around the rim w the plate hits the table.Just rubbing, no damage. I have several pieces in this pattern that I will be listing this week.
