Lot 399 – Hornby R840 LMS Black Five, 4-6-0 Black with Red Lining 5112 VNM This is a very near MINT condition Hornby R840 LMS Black Five 4-6-0 Black with Red Lining. The running number is 5112. This loco, which is tender driven, really is in immaculate condition and has never been removed from the box, which is also in good condition and comes with a full set of instructions. However, someone has written “Sprunes Missing in Motor” on the front of the box – so I guess that this may be a non-runner. Ramsay’s British Model Trains catalogue (7 th Edition) gives a minimum valuation of £40 (page 408) for a loco in this boxed condition. Please note that the P&P charges are less than the cost it takes me to drive into town, pay for parking and Royal Mail postal charges, which is £4.50 for this item sent to UK addresses.
