Here is an unusual love token engraved on the reverse of a Barber dime dated 1894. If you collect dime love tokens by date, I'll bet you don't have this one yet.This is a scarce date: the Philadelphia version has a mintage of only 1,330,000, and in the 2015 Red Book it catalogs $27 in Good. I would grade the obverse of this coin as a strong Very Fine, which the Red Book lists at $160! The 1894-O, with mintage of only 720,000, catalogs even higher.Of course, the famous 1894-S has a mintage of only 24! Can we prove that this is NOT an 1894-S? Well, probably we can, since those were all proofs, and no doubt specialists have analyzed the obverse die to a fare-the-well. But, it's nice to imagine!Bidding opens at 99 cents.
