Holy Mother of God & Christ Child This is a lovely Russian Orthodox church prayer Icon from Ukraine. It features an extremely detailed and beautifully colored image of Mary holding the Christ Child (or "Molebitza" Mother of God Icon as it is known. The original Icon of this type dates back to the 15th century in the town of Nikolaev, in the province of Kherson, near the Black Sea. It was originally kept in the Moldavia Monastery of Nikolaev (before it was brought to Russia). It is often prayed to today for protection, strength of faith, and family! This particular Icon comes from the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev . This lovely desktop size prayer Icon is made of real WOOD and measures 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" x 2/3" thick! T are brilliant gold metallic highlights throughout the image! An especially pretty Icon of Mary and Christ--It would make a lovely spiritual gift and aid to prayer! Buyer to pay $1.98 shipping US .
