Our last remaining original -WW II M1 Carbine Stock Set Stock Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Model: Type 3- Low wood Type of wood: black American walnut Location: Louisville, Ky. Stock Code & Markings: " HI" -stamped on sling well, DOD Cross Cannon, and Unserified "P" in circle- under the pistol grip and rack"98"; and also t is faint "U" on front of buttstock behind left side of the pistol grip. Primary Contractor: Inland Division of General Motors Handguard Manufacturer: Hillerich Bradsby Co. Factory Location: Louisville, Ky. Stock Code: "HI" - under the handguard Model: Type 3; shallower grove and smaller clearance on the other end; 4 rivets Wood Type: Black American Walnut Stock Set Overall Condition: It's unsanded and had been cleaned only without destroying the original condition specially the markings. It's very good and t are some evidence of battle and storage marks (small dings and scratches). T's also an almost unnoticeable small hairline located on the recoil plate sits and a small piece of wood missing on scutcheon nut but these are not a major defect that will affect the integrity of this solid and sweet-WW issue Inland stock set; of course t is no previous repair.
