Maddox Antique Mahogany Secretary Slant Desk with Hutch Bookcase that sits on top of the desk. It is made in two sections. This is also known as Governor Wintrop Desk or dropfront or slant front desk which became popular in mid 18th century displaying the claw and ball feet, a feature associated with Thomas Chippendale (1749-1822) Some desks now being made today do not have that feature. My desk hutch bookcase was probably made in the 1930's with genuine mahogany. See my proof of authenticity Blue Tag # 134 issued from Mahogany Association Inc to the Maddox Table Co. in Jamestown New York which began in 1898. Mine is all original in GOOD CONDITION.My desk has four outer serpentine drawers on the outside . Some of the reproductions have only three drawers and their desk / hutch bookcase are not even made out of mahogany wood. Inside the desk mine has five small serpentine drawers, two secret compartments, and the deep storage box in the center. I have seen other desks that have only three that are not serpentine shaped drawers inside the desktop and some other advertised desks are missing all of their drawers and compartments, Please be knowledgeable when comparing the original quality with the cheaper made desk that appear to be the same when they certainly are not. I have advertised this at a very low price and just reduced the price read more
